London around Christmas is so fantastic, with so many fun festive things to do all around the city! We’re here to highlight our favourites, although there is so much more on for you to enjoy whilst you’re in the city. So, let’s get into it and help you to get inspired and ready for your trip to London.
First, we have Winter Wonderland, London’s iconic magical winter destination, which is fun for all the family! You need to book tickets in advance to get your entry, then you can either enjoy all of the stalls, foods and drinks, or you can pay extra (again, booking in advance) for other activities like the Ice Bar and Magical Ice Kingdom. This is in Hyde Park so is extremely central no matter your plans for the rest of the day, and although it does get slightly busier, we’d definitely recommend that you visit when it’s dark so that you can make the most of the stunning lights. This is also a great place to pick up your London souvenirs!
Next up, you should visit Kew Gardens, with stunning lights and seasonal sounds all around! This is such a great thing to see no matter your age, again with booking usually required to ensure you get entry. There are really nice food vendors all around, so you can make a whole evening of this. Kew Gardens are stunning any time of year, however, they’re that extra bit special at Christmas, so make sure to visit whilst you’re in London.
There’s nothing quite like curling up by the fire in a British restaurant around Christmas, so this should be a must on your list. There are fantastic restaurants all across London (as it’s something the city is renowned for), however some of our favourites when it comes to the festive period are The Sherlock Holmes in Trafalgar Square, The Spread Eagle in Hackney and The Lemon Tree in Covent Garden. The absolute top of our list is The Churchill Arms in Kensington, which is always decorated amazingly, however, it is a touristy spot so be prepared to wait for a table as that’s a likelihood. No matter where you go for a Christmas dinner during the festive period in London, we’re sure the atmosphere is going to be great.
Lastly, no trip to London would be complete without afternoon tea. Luckily, there are plenty of great festive-themed ones in the capital! There are much more expensive options like the festive afternoon tea at The Ritz or The Ting at Shangri-La Hotel at the Shard, or more affordable options at The Ivy which is a stunning venue but is great value for money. If you’re going with someone and are looking for gifts for her, this is a great idea. Look around at the different menus to see what you fancy and enjoy this festive experience that will help you make the most of your time in London!
