Discovering Sustainable Shops for Eco-Friendly Living in London

Whether you live in London and want to know about some shops to help you make more eco-friendly choices, or you’re visiting London and love exploring sustainable shops, you’re certainly in the right place!

From zero-waste food and toiletry shops to sustainable food vans, clothes and some of the best charity shops filled with hidden gems, there are so many sustainable shops to explore in London and we’re here to introduce the best of them.

So, hop on the tube or choose parking in central London, and get ready to explore these wonderful sustainable shops!

Bygram

First up we have Bygram located in Fulham, a bring-your-own-container concept zero waste store where you can get all of your house essentials without it having an impact on the planet. It’s best if you can bring your own containers, but of course, if you’re visiting London this might not be possible, so you can buy eco-friendly containers for your items.

You can literally get so many plastic-free and eco-friendly essentials, from nuts, pulses, flour, bread, oats, seeds and delicious confectionery, to all of your cleaning products and toiletries. This is such a fantastic way to shop and it’s also very fun and satisfying, so make sure to give this a visit.

Mercato Metropolitano

Next, we have Mercato and Metropolitano located near Elephant and Castle which is London’s first sustainable food market. The market is completely single-use practice free and features only sustainable and surplus products that would have been thrown away. There are 40 stalls to choose from, including Turkish Kebabs, Pizza, Venezuelan Arepas, cocktails, Caribbean food, and modern Syrian food, you’ll be so spoiled for choice.

A visit here will absolutely inspire you to make more sustainable choices, as you’ll see what can be done with food that might have otherwise gone to waste! It’s also in the most beautiful setting, with a breathtaking interior section with high ceilings and intricate details, along with a stunning outdoor area for the warmer weather.

Cancer Research UK

Moving away from food and towards clothes and accessories, we can’t recommend the Cancer Research UK charity shop in Marylebone enough. It’s full to the brim with stunning luxury items that are heavily discounted, pieces worn by celebrities, breathtaking evening wear and so much more.

Not only this but a great array of everyday clothes, books and household goods. When people think about areas like Marylebone they probably only think of very expensive designer stores and luxury shopping hotspots in London, however with an area like this comes fantastic finds in the local charity shops. Go and have a look around and we know you won’t be disappointed!

Varana

Last but certainly not least, we have Varana, the dreamiest combination of sustainability and luxury, located in Mayfair. The store is known for its Indian heritage, creating the most beautiful pieces of clothing using ethical materials and an expert process that means they last a lifetime.

Their entire supply chain is focused on biodegradable fibres and absolutely minimal waste throughout the whole process. As a result of this commitment to providing the best quality possible, this is definitely a pricier option, yet even if you’re not looking to buy it’s absolutely worth having a look around!
